Ok, this is getting exciting.
Here’s a quick recap…
We picked our rolling pin wood manufacturer last week!
And we’re finally sleeping soundly(ish) again.
But…
There’s another thing we haven’t told you much about.
The plastic pieces.
A custom quick-turn screw…
And 5 sturdy discs for rolling different heights.
We personally designed each piece.
Spent months testing.
And 3D printed version after version.
Tweaking the shape and rolling the thickness.
(The top disc even clicks into place.)
Over the past few months, we talked with six different plastic manufacturers.
And last week…
We placed our first deposit for custom plastic molds. (!!!)
Which means…
They’re officially in production! 🎉
(We literally danced around the kitchen squealing.)
This was the final piece we needed to move forward.
Here’s a sneak peek of the plastic prototype:
But before we finish the molds…
We have one more decision to make.
The plastic texture.
We want it to feel smooth and look beautiful on your counter.
So we ordered a plastic texture card to compare options.
(It just came in the mail. Yay!)
It’s hard to tell from the picture, but each rectangle has its own texture on both sides.
And they start to look and feel really similar.
But we have to get this right.
Because once we decide, there’s no takebacks.
After that, we’ll test the molds.
Fine-tune a few details.
And then full production begins!! (holy 💩)
Oh—and one more project in the works…
We’re designing the packaging.
And we’d love your input.
So stay tuned.
Big things are coming.
And it feels surreal to say this, but…
Pre-orders will be opening soon!
And we’re just a few months out from shipping.
We’ll also have a few surprises for those who join early.
More on that soon.
Happy baking! ❤️
Emma & Eric
P.S. If you’ve actually read this far down—you’re the BEST!
We updated our recipe pages with more photos and a new layout! (Here’s an example) What do you think? We’d love to know.
